Contest #5 - Winning Lyrics!!
Once again, due to Betty's familiarity with a couple of the submitting names, she declined to participate in the actual judging of the proffered lyrics. But, as usual, she had an opinion. What a surprise. When our self-esteemed judges rendered their opinion(s) regarding a winner and subsequently commented on the abject difficulty of choosing a winning lyric from amongst those excellent three submitted, Betty responded, "I told you so." What a surprise again. She's always right. Well, it's her party. Our warmest congratulations to a truly fine pass of the pen by Jack Henry (whose winning lyric is featured below), and our heartfelt thanks to those incredibly good sports who submitted their finest efforts, then waited so long hear the results. Only Dell employees have suffered more.
Here's his entry - read it and learn...
SongTitle: "Prodigal Song"
by Jack Henry
My name is... West
Texas winds
Please, let me...
feel them
I am ... so
far from the borders I've known
I am... undone
and wasted and weary
I have... but
just a few miles left to go
You won't... forsake
me if reason escapes me
This is just... my
prodigal song
My name is... yet
spoken your door is yet open
I know it's... true
I have wandered away
Please disregard... those
words of my childhood
It seems to... me
certian that I'm home to stay
I know it's said,
when... this life is over
That... I've
tasted all life will allow
But... one
day,I will say, You have saved the best wine until now
