Contest #1 - Winning Lyrics!! (original lyric below)

Due to the preponderence of familiar email addresses, Betty disqualified herself from judging contest # 1, and retreated to the Parlor of the RedBird where she commenced to drown her regrets whilst engaging in some lively spirits...

Meanwhile...

Her esteemed and exhausted Backseat Judges (4) rendered their results after much deliberation sittin' and rockin' on the stoop of the White Trash Back Porch, near the Whistling Pig Sty, by the side yard of the RedBird Cafe', where they are ordinarily given to whittling their own songs and contemplating the oxidation of old chrome....

Using their remaining digits, blinding themselves as to lyric genre, and figurin,' using a scoring range of 1-3, they are pleased to announce the preeminence of the following lyric...

Pointless
Robert Rodriguez

I found you, dear, in that neon-lit bar
Indelibly propped up against the far wall
And there with drunkards, embracing your sin
I ran across secrets who knew me by name

This house seems to suit you, it slurs its goodbyes
My bags are, for now, the only burden I'll bare
You know that it's pointless, though sharp as a blade
The bell in your heart, dear, I've forgotten it's there

Are there bells in this heaven I'm running off to?
Are there hells worth my time, dear -- please tell me it's true.

*********

Congratulations, Robert!!!!

We hope you enjoy your gift of music (and photo)...

Just FYI, Betty's unrecorded original lyric from 1994 is printed below:

Indecision

I found you again at the breaking of dawn
Indelibly written in morning
And there with the sunrise (and little else on)
I ran across words I had written,

"This house seems too small and
My bags are still packed,
You know that I've been home for days now...
The bell in the harbor keeps calling me back,

Are there lights on the bridge in the bay, now...
Are there lights on the bridge in the bay?"
