Why
Why did he pull the trigger,
Why did he shoot himself to die?
Why did he pull the trigger
no one may know why.
What was wrong with
young Carlos Limon;
Though hearts offered
help for him,
Sadness was his home.
To me he had everything
a loving father and mother;
he even had a little ten year
old brother.
BOOM! There it is,
your life is no more!
Does it make you so happy
to see us mourn?
You didn't solve the problem
You only made it worse,
Can't you see that you made
Everyone hurt.
So, why did you pull the trigger,
what did you fear?
I guess we'll never know
I just wish you were here.

"Why" was written by our son, Ian Nicley, when he was only 15 years old; Ian is now 25 years old and is still a skilled wordsmith. These heartfelt words were inspired, sadly, at the inexplicable suicide of a friend -- too large a tragedy for a young mind to grasp...for anyone to grasp. I found his poem a few days ago while unpacking some boxes in our garage, and wished to share it with all of you. Ian gave his permission.
