Sing With the Cedars
Pretty bird singing
in a cedar tree
late in November in
Tennessee.
Sing with the cedars upon a high wind
The sparrow knows no sorrow at journey's end.
The redbird's downtown
in a gilded cage
singing for his supper
on a rainy day
Sing with the cedars upon a high wind
The sparrow knows no sorrow at journey's end.
Some have a brown coat
some have a red
some stay home
singing babies to bed
Sing with the cedars upon a high wind
The sparrow knows no sorrow at journey's end.
Fly away, pretty bird
Fly away.
