OUR DAD

~by Bruce E. Kasold~

It goes without saying that we are sad
For we have lost the presence on earth of our Dad
But lest we forget
Here’s a sure bet
We have more to be glad for than be sad

He remains in our memories of times past
Of the strong guidance and firm hand in our youth
And the total support -- unflinching support -- should we ask
Just knowing he was there, simplified any task

As we moved from under his wing
And began careers and families of our own
Dad always was there, just a phone call away
We knew he would help
In any ‘ole way

And on reflection, when we pass this sad moment
We will soon come to know
That Dad’s strong guidance and firm hand
His unconditioned love
Was all the support we ever needed

As we face our next challenge
We will soon come to see
That Dad is still with us
In great harmony

Instead of a phone call
We need just say a prayer
Dad’s guidance and support
Will come from up there

No doubt -- we have lost a great man
We have lost our Dad
But we honestly say
While we are sad, we are yet glad
Because he will always be our Dad
