Calm in Winter Storm
I want that mood
That comes with the love of the Father
The security
Of being held in His hands
And having a human pitch-hitter
My nerves are on edge from coffee
And cigarettes
Trying to find a way
To fill that hole
In my soul
I trade off music for silence
But still those tracers of last nights snub
Jab
And I seek to replace you
I must replace you with God
I want the mood that comes
When I have placed everything
In His hands
Because I can do no more
And I get goodies
And I see them as such
Not being brought about
By me but
Gifts from the King
A pardon
A reprieve
Blessings
Calm in winter storms

Bonnie Edmondson is a good friend and published poetess who performs around central Texas at many popular poetic venues. She is known as Bonnie Blue among her peers. I know her as a special, wonderful, giving woman who, like many of us creative souls, uses the incredible gifts God gave her to connect with others' lives by poetically sharing startlingly direct and universal concepts, experiences, in an incisive and yet tender manner. She is a master of her craft. I am proud to share this poignant poem this holiday season.
You may send her your thoughts here -- I know she would love to hear from you!
