THE BOY WHO LIKED TO SMILE
There was a boy who liked to smile
It had always been that way
Since he was very, very young
He smiled throughout the day
He smiled in the morning
He smiled in the afternoon
He smiled when it was nighttime
He smiled when it was noon.
By the time that he was one year old
All that knew him they would say
I wish I knew the reason why he smiles throughout the day
If he could talk he'd tell us
It's because he likes to play
That must be the reason why
He always smiles that way
Oh it was true he liked to play
With cars and planes and boats
With balls and blocks for building
Or anything that floats
And if you lined up all his toys
Why, they would stretch out half a mile
But that was not the reason
The reason for his smile
His daddy said he thought he knew the reason for the smile
It's because he is very smart
And thinking all the while
About the things that he will do
When he is two times ten
He's thinkin, thinkin, thinkin,
And thinkin' makes him grin.
Oh it was true he liked to play
And he was very smart
But that was not the reason
For the gladness in his heart
The reason that he smiled so much
The reason for his joy
Was because he loved his mother
And his mother loved her boy
